Critcal Winking: Review: Shattering Glass →
criticalwinking: There is a lot to unpack in Connor Coyne’s series Shattering Glass: How to Survive Your First Year in College. It deals with the struggles of chaos versus order, creation versus destruction, science and supernatural. Mostly, though, it has to do with identity. This shouldn’t be surprising to…

herocious: (hey tumblrz) (good news) (my book is free today) (it’s called austin nights) (it’s a slim novel) (J. Wendt, from amazon, had this to say about it) (I really do feel it was an artistic book, so different than anything I’ve read since college, probably)) (i like the way j. wendt…
ksawyerpaul asked: You are totally right. I will fix that.
herocious: Shit, I’m so indecisive. I waffle on the inside. Deliberate over every possibility. Over things like what my bio should read. I don’t know the most basic things, like my name. Michael “Herocious” Davidson was born during a thunderstorm on Mars. He enjoys long runs on the beach, poetry, and candlelight dinners. Once, he tipped a homeless window washer with spiritual...
So a 2,000 word short story sequel to The Mosquito Song has been drafted. It’s currently called “The Pied Piper of Buick City” However, I am not married to that name. Other options include: “Liver, No Onions” and “A Reverse Billy Goats Gruff”

Pimping a video game review done for DHGF: criticalwinking: Satellite’s gone, way up to Mars. Soon it will be filled with talking cars. That’s right, Transformers Prime: The Game is finally here for the Nintendo DS. Finally, I’ll get the chance to play as all my favorite robots: Turbo, Scooter, Small-foot, Cy-Kill, Creepy, Snoop, Wee-Bey, Bird, Stringer, Poot, Stinkum, Chalky, Orko, and...
herocious: I ignore “free ebook” offers as most are spam-ish, but this1 is good:@TinyTOEPress ebooks free today http://bit.ly/Ton1es . That’s 4 books for the price of none.
herocious: Oh shit. 460 people watched my hands handpress The Mosquito Song this week.

The Mosquito Song Trivia #4
Most of the locations of the book are real or, at the very least, based on real locations. Since it is set in 2009, some things have already changed. For instance, Daley is no longer Mayor of Chicago. Plus, the welcome to Ohio sign mention mid-book seems to be different now. The old, blood-colored one can be seen here.
The Mosquito Song Trivia #3
Most of the protagonist’s aliases are borrowed from detective novels. Terry Lennox is a character in Raymond’s Chandler’s The Long Goodbye. Max Thaler is from Dashiell Hammett’s story Red Harvest.
The Mosquito Song Trivia #2
Our protagonist’s total at the grocery store in Chapter 1 is $18.97. The novel Dracula was written in 1897.
The Mosquito Song Trivia #1
Vampire hunter Hugh Sommers is named after the makers of the movie Van Helsing. It is a crap movie that features what may be the worst Dracula of all time.
Thanksgiving for Werewolves Needs revisions, but the hard work is done. Thanks in advance to The Medici, The Bridgeport Coffee House, The Rabblecast, and some to be named later.
Mosquito Song Hype Page →
This is really a nice selection of the various reviews of The Mosquito Song.
1. The Mosquito Song sells really well when it is free. 2. An MP3 of me reading a chapter is floating in cyberspace right now. 3. The first draft of Werewolf Thanksgiving should be done by this time next week. 4. After that, it is either re-write a old script into a novel, write Mosquito 2, re-visit my weird-o Mortal Kombat meets Amber style story, or write a cash-in romance novel about...
The Mosquito Song is now being carried by Domy books in Austin. Well, they have one copy at least… Also, check out Caroline Hagood’s new poetry book. I haven’t read it, but she once said something nice about a Cronenberg movie. That’s all you need to get on my good side.
For realsies, this time.
I have worked out the ending to Thanksgiving for Werewolves. Still needs writing and a bunch of polish. Was thinking of doing a teaser MP3 of a selection. That is all.
herocious: Look! The book trailer to my book, Austin Nights, made by a person in the book, Bridget. Watch it plz.
1 week later
So we got 1 new Amazon review, 1 new goodread rating and a half dozen goodread adds. That’s cool, and everything has been positive. My friend Sam told me her mother is reading the book. She told her, “It’s actually really good.” New cover blurb: The Mosquito Song is “actually really good.” - Sam’s Mom.
So, it looks like we got about 3000 new readers for the Mosquito song during our last week’s two free days. As such, we have lowered the price of the e-book to about $3. You missed a free day? $3 is virtually free! You love the book and want your friends to read it? Send them over to Amazon to pick up a copy. At any rate, thanks for all the support, and all the support of Tiny...

Free Day This Wednesday
Keep your eyes peeled to Amazon this week. We’ll be offering another free day for The Mosquito Song .
Thanksgiving for Werewolves: update
The story is progressing quite nicely. Slowly, but nicely. I’m hoping to have some the bulk of it done by next week. It probably won’t be any longer than The Mosquito Song, but it will have a more satisfying ending. After this first draft is done, we’ll start working on the vampire follow-up. I’ve already had some requests for what “has to be” in the...
So, my friend Rocky and I switch comics around. Right now he’s lending me Fables. I like it so far. I like the characters and there are some cute ideas. The only downside is that I figured out the mystery about 45 pages before it was revealed.
Vanity Stalking. . .
So, a stranger on Goodreads gave The Mosquito Song a Four Star Review. Naturally, I looked at her other reviews. She gave three stars to: The Wonderful Wizard of Oz, The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, and A Princess of Mars. Take that Edgar Rice Burroughs!
So, we “sold” well into the triple digits for our free day. A couple of WNYer picked up the book and were happy to see places like Derby make it into print. Derby, represent!
The Book is free on Amazon today.
My publisher wanted to do it for Pi day. So far, we are up to Amazon Best Sellers Rank: #2,024 Free in Kindle Store (See Top 100 Free in Kindle Store) #83in Kindle Store > Kindle eBooks > Fiction > Action & Adventure And it looks to still be rising.
Well. . .
Chrome seems to think that Tumblr is in French… I’m not sure what to think about that.
Review: Shattering Glass (Part 2)
For the review of the first part of this serial, click here. Part 2 of Connor Coyne’s How to Survive Your First Year in College: Shattering Glass encompasses chapters three and four of the story. It is available here. Things are starting to tighten up here, in the narrative sense. Our principal players have been defined and these chapters are more plot-driven. While the story maintains...
